the Editor: Thousands of children lost their parents because of the tsunami, and about 100 orphans were fortunate enough to be taken in by Gokulam in Colombo. The Home is considered by many to be the best orphanage in Sri Lanka, providing its children with complete educational, nutritional and medical care. Gokulam makes the healing process as easy as possible for orphaned children, showering them with love and attention. Gokulam desperately needs the funds to expand and accommodate its incoming orphans from the tsunami. The Home must raise $500,000 for the construction of new buildings and the cost of provisions for each child. For just $35 a month, your readers can sponsor a child, taking care of all basic needs. One time donations are also greatly appreciated. The world’s response to this catastrophe has been generous and moving. However, as aid declines, the needs of those who suffer will continue far into the future. Please urge your readers to take a part in the future of the young victims of the tsunami. Founded in 1999, the Gokulam has a standard of excellence in bringing up their children to be good citizens and healthy adults.
